Exmouth Town Council Presents the Annual Winter Festival
Exmouth Town Council is delighted to announce the return of its much-loved Winter Festival — a joyful celebration of festive cheer and community spirit.
This year’s event marks the official switching-on of the town’s Christmas tree lights, featuring live performances, walkabout entertainers, and a magical lantern parade. The festival also aims to encourage residents and visitors to support Exmouth’s fantastic range of shops and local businesses throughout the festive season, many of which will be staying open late for the occasion.
The event, compered by Mandi Cox, begins at 3pm with performances from Exmouth Churches Together, followed by Talent Box, La La Choir, Centre Stage, and Exmouth Youth Theatre. Audiences can also enjoy a special display by the new majorette troupe, the East Devon All Stars.
Walkabout entertainment includes the Spirit of Winter stilt walkers, Santa’s Elves and their playful ‘Goodometer’, and Angie Mack’s festive hooping acts, including an LED hoop glow show after dark, all designed to spark fun and smiles.
The lantern parade, led by the Little Big Horns, will leave Holy Trinity Church at 5.20pm, making its way down Rolle Street, through the Magnolia Centre, along The Parade, and into The Strand at around 5.45pm.
Local schools and community groups are busy making lanterns for the parade, and individuals are welcome too (LED lanterns only, please—no flames!).
At the end of the evening, the Mayor of Exmouth will switch on the Christmas tree lights, marking the official start of the festive season.
Visitors can also enjoy free Christmas crafts with Hayley Watson (Isolation Creation) and Churches Together, as well as a mulled wine stall, cocktail bar, and churros to keep everyone warm and merry.
Jess Magill, Exmouth Town Council’s Arts Manager and event organiser, said:
“The Winter Festival has become a real highlight of Exmouth’s calendar. It’s that magical moment when the festive feeling begins to sparkle — with glowing lights, lanterns, warm drinks, and a wonderful sense of community. It’s a joy to see so many people come together to celebrate. Everyone is welcome at our Winter Festival!”
