Food & Drink

Our spectacular location on the River Exe, with our wonderful natural larder of fresh seafood, inspires many of our award-winning restaurants.

RIVER EXE CAFE:

The floating River Exe Café is a gem: a pontoon in the middle of the estuary, with the most heart-stopping sunsets and a menu which is brimming with fish and shellfish.
If you don’t have a boat of your own, the water taxi from the harbourmaster’s office in Exmouth Marina will ferry you out and back.

CAFES & DELIS

At our fantastic cafes & delis, you can find everything from traditional Devon cream teas to authentic Italian ice cream, or you could fill up on good old English fare from many of the serving pubs.

TOP CHEFS

Exmouth is also home to several top chefs. Mitch Tonks opened Rockfish in 2016, and Michael Caines, one of Britain’s most celebrated and best known chefs, has opened a luxury country retreat, Lympstone Manor, on the outskirts of Exmouth.

FISH & CHIPS

If first-class fish and chips are your thing, you might want to pay a visit to Krispies, winner of the UK Fish & Chip Shop of the Year 2019, or take your pick from the other popular fish and chip shops which are dotted throughout the town.

SEAFOOD

For a bowl of award-winning Exmouth Mussels, head to The Point Bar & Grill Restaurant at Exmouth Marina. Just around the corner, Fish on the Quay advises customers on how to cook and prepare its catch of the day.

TEAROOMS & CAFES

Bumble and Bee is an award winning tea room nestled in the beautiful Manor Gardens. Its sister, Bumble and Sea at Orcombe Point, is a great pit stop for a coffee and cake after a walk along the seafront and is popular with vegans. The Book Rest Cafe is another popular, family-owned and family-run cafe in the Town Centre which caters for vegans and vegetarians.

DRINKS

If gin is your thing, The Grapevine Brewhouse is a stockist of Copper Frog Gin, a small-batch artisan gin which is produced in Exmouth using filtered water from Exmoor National Park and the highest quality botanicals.

Crossed Anchors Brewery across the road, was set up in 2015 by Oliver Bainbridge. Look out for Crossed Anchors beers in our local pubs and farm shops.

Fancy a cocktail? Head along to Spoken, on The Strand, which was crowned as the winner of the UK’s best spirits bar in 2017. Spoken stocks more than 150 vodkas, 100 gins and 10 different tonic waters.

With some of the best seaside views in Exmouth, The Grove is family friendly and welcomes your canine companion too; serving delicious home-made food and an excellent range of craft and cask ales.
