Explore the Exmouth RNLI Welly Trail – Fun for All Ages
Originally launched in 2024 to mark the 200th anniversary of the RNLI, the Yellow Welly Trail has returned this year with exciting updates and even more to discover. Now featuring 17 stops, the trail stretches from Exmouth’s town centre to the Marina and along the seafront.
Designed for all ages, the route is mostly flat with just one gentle incline. There’s no need to complete it all at once — start wherever you like and enjoy it at your own pace, whether over a day, a weekend, or multiple visits.
As you journey along the trail, take in the beautiful surroundings while exploring over two centuries of lifeboat history. From Exmouth’s first lifeboat in 1803 to today’s cutting-edge All Weather Lifeboat, the R and J Welburn (13-03), each stop reveals the evolving story of lifesaving at sea.
This year’s trail highlights Exmouth’s vital role in the RNLI’s past and present, with a special focus on the R and J Welburn, part of the RNLI’s Launch A Memory campaign — a touching tribute to those saved and remembered through this remarkable service.
Interactive displays bring the story to life, offering a rich blend of education and adventure. Look out for the distinctive Yellow Welly markers and uncover the enduring values that continue to drive the RNLI’s mission today.
