I ask, ‘are you up for the perfect Christmas escape?’ and I wouldn’t blame you for picturing white sandy beaches, or snow-capped mountains… but how about something a little easier on the wallet?!
You don’t need your passport, and you don’t even need to pack a suitcase or arrange for someone to feed the cat, but at Excape: Exmouth Escape Rooms, we promise 60 minutes of pure escapism (and an awful lot of fun!)
If you’ve not been and have no idea what they are, then first of all, don’t worry! You aren’t trapped in a room, and even the most claustrophobic of people have been absolutely fine. It’s a normal size room. In fact, The Sherlock Holmes themed room, The Game’s Afoot, looks exactly like how you’d imagine Sherlock’s lounge to look. An escape room is a game, in a brilliantly designed themed room, where you have one hour to work as a team, finding and following clues to work out puzzles, and crack codes, ultimately completing the objective of the room. In The Game’s Afoot, you need to solve a detective case; in E=MC Scared, you must escape the mad scientist’s lair, and in the Vault, you need to steal the diamond! It is pure escapism… from the minute you enter the room, you forget the outside world!
So, who are escape rooms for? It is rare than an activity can be so engaging for such a wide audience, but escape rooms really do seem to appeal to all ages! When coming with a family, children as young as 7 or 8 will love searching the rooms to find helpful items, teenagers are usually pretty savvy when it comes to solving the clues, and adults of all ages will enjoy the sense of achievement as they work their way through the room, making it ideal for get togethers of friends, families and work colleagues. Christmas is the perfect time for family get togethers, with multiple generations working together, having fun and making memories. And best of all… no screens for an hour!!
If you’re looking for an excuse to get outside and work off those Christmas calories, we have also recently launched an outdoor game, ‘Moriarty’s Tourist Trap,’ where you use your phone to navigate around Exmouth, finding clues and solving puzzles, helping to solve Sherlock’s latest case! Fantastic value for money, at just £35 per game (for up to 6 players), the game lasts approx. 2-3 hours, but also has the opportunity to pause at any point, for food, drink, toilet stops etc! With puzzles to suit all levels, and clues available throughout, it’s a light hearted game, aimed at families but also works nicely for teams of friends or colleagues who can raise the stakes by racing against each other!
And if you’re looking to give the gift of fun this Christmas, then we have gift vouchers for all values, priced from £14 upwards. Physical vouchers can be purchased over the phone, or online vouchers can be purchased up to Christmas Day, perfect for the last minute shopper!
