The Exe Estuary is a haven for wintering birds, attracting a variety of species including waders, waterfowl, and gulls. Some of the birds that can be seen during the winter months include curlews, oystercatchers, redshanks, dunlin, lapwings, black-tailed godwits, grey plovers, and avocetsYou can also spot waterfowl such as swans, geese, and ducks, as well as kingfishers, cormorants, grey herons, and mute swans. Gulls like great black-backed, lesser black-backed, herring, and black-headed gulls are also common.
