The Exe Estuary is a haven for wintering birds, attracting a variety of species including waders, waterfowl, and gulls. Some of the birds that can be seen during the winter months include curlews, oystercatchers, redshanks, dunlin, lapwings, black-tailed godwits, grey plovers, and avocets. You can also spot waterfowl such as swans, geese, and ducks, as well as kingfishers, cormorants, grey herons, and mute swans. Gulls like great black-backed, lesser black-backed, herring, and black-headed gulls are also common.
You can stroll along the estuary side yourself or go on a Stuart Line Cruises bird watching trip – https://www.stuartlinecruises.co.uk/guided-bird-watching-cruise/
