The Friends of All Saints Church East Budleigh was formed about 20 years ago to raise funds for the upkeep of this 15th century church.
The East Budleigh Scarecrow Festival is our main yearly fundraiser and is back on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June 2026! We encourage you to join us for a weekend of fun and games for every age.
As well as providing an imaginative display of scarecrows created by our village residents using their wit, invention and recycling skills, there are plenty of activities and refreshments to enjoy.
The Village Hall will be at the heart of this event, where refreshments, including bacon rolls and cream teas, will be on sale between 11am and 4pm each day, along with a variety of stalls featuring local crafts and activities, cakes, pre-loved books, and plants. Don’t miss East Devon Rock Choir performing on Saturday. There will be musical entertainment on Sunday by our popular local performers.
The Scarecrow Festival would not be the same without the ‘Roger Conant Duck Race’. Choose your racer ready for the sprint from ‘East Budleigh’ to ‘Salem’ to win a cash prize. And if you don’t win on Saturday, don’t worry, there’s another chance on Sunday!
Some wonderful local businesses are supporting our fundraising event and have generously provided great prizes to be won in our raffle, held on both days. Our thanks go to Gilbert Stephens Solicitors for their sponsorship of the festival.
Up at the church there will be a display of knitted garments being prepared to send to Moldova and Ukraine with the charity CR2EE. Got a head for heights? If so, there will be a chance to go up the All Saints bell tower to admire the beautiful countryside around the village. You can also try your hand at bellringing on both afternoons between 2 and 4pm.
Dog owners, don’t forget to join us on the Recreation Field at midday on Sunday for the East Budleigh Dog Show. There will also be an impressive display of classic cars and rally cars down at East Budleigh Garage.
Our event will close with a Songs of Praise service in All Saints Church at 6pm on Sunday evening.
We hope there will be something for everyone to enjoy – and strongly encourage you to bring cash so that you can join in all the fun! (£1 for car parking up on the recreation field.
